My name is Steve, and I am the Village Manager here at Oak Tree Retirement Village Skye.
I’ve been married to my wife Joan for 44 years, and together we share two daughters, six grandchildren, and one great grandson.
Prior to my role at Oak Tree, I worked in the transport industry for 35 years, beginning as a mechanic and moving into various roles including Director and General Manager of $50 million business in the UK.
My last role before leaving the UK was managing a contract on behalf of the local council with a team of dedicated workers delivering meals to seniors. The concept of retirement villages was not well known in England, but having assisted seniors in a small way through an important service for the aged care community, I thought the role at Oak Tree would be a good fit for me.
Personally, I strive to succeed in everything I do, and here at Oak Tree that means ensuring the residents are as comfortable and happy as possible living in the village. Honesty, integrity and professional are the values that drive me every day.
My outside passions include DIY renovation and repairs around the house, repairing my cars, and riding my Harley Davidson on the weekends.
The most enjoyable aspect of my role here is interacting with the residents, and I especially love seeing them satisfied and happy with their lifestyle.
I enjoy assisting people who are making the move to retirement living with the transition of downsizing from their original home to the village and adjusting to the village lifestyle. I feel I can give back to the community through my role, by imparting knowledge to our village community and arranging activities and events for our residents that improve their lives and bring them joy.
I look forward to welcoming you on a tour of our wonderful village.
