Let me introduce myself, my name is Julie Gardner and I’m proud to be the Village Manager at Oak Tree Retirement Village Cardiff.
I have had the good fortune of living in Newcastle my entire life, my husband and I now enjoy watching our children grow and experience all that we have grown to love in this beautiful town. We live a wonderful life here, enjoying boating and fishing on Lake Macquarie, caravanning at Port Stephens, spending long summer days on the wonderful pristine beaches or just hanging at home in New Lambton, we are so proud to be Novocastrians.
Life before Oak Tree has been an amazing learning platform of different sectors, it’s quite clear now how each job experience enables another piece of life’s puzzle to take shape and form a much bigger picture.
My working career commenced at the ripe age of 15 where I started as a hairdressing and beauty apprentice. I continued my hairdressing career for another 30 years styling for family, friends and of course the love of it. I often volunteered my time to style hair for the elderly or people in hospitals that needed some brightening up. While I continued my hairdressing, I also had many other exciting positions including working for a building company, hotel management, real estate, interior decorating, preschool administrator, sales and one of the most rewarding jobs of all, being a Mum.
My first view as a Village Manager at Oak Tree Cardiff was how impressive the facilities and the care they show to their residents. The social activities on offer are fantastic, Oak Tree really offer a sense of community. It is refreshing to work for a Company with the same values and work ethics as my own, the team at Oak Tree have been so supportive and welcoming.
It is my goal as the Oak Tree Cardiff Village Manager to provide friendly professional guidance to all its amazing residents, and each day improve both our facilities and enrich our resident’s days.
Oak Tree Retirement Village Cardiff is situated at 22 Cypress St, Cardiff.
Cardiff is a great place to live. Cardiff is located in Lake Macquarie in the Hunter region just 13km from Newcastle and it is a comfortable drive through the Central Coast district to Sydney or west to the Hunter Valley wine district.
As a city within one of the fastest growing regions of NSW, Cardiff was original a mining and trade services town. Staying true to its industrial origins, Cardiff continues to thrive as a significant employment catchment, successfully blending commercial and recreational facilities to provide residents with a comfortable lifestyle balance.
Excellent retail developments, modern medical facilities and infrastructure services compliment the local park reserves and nature strips, while nearby waterways and national parklands offer further leisure activities to ensure Cardiff is a desirable location to reside.
