It feels like home

Nestled in the fertile Cudgegong River valley on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range, Mudgee is a vibrant community renowned for its attractive scenery, historic charm and thriving food and wine production.

Centrally located three-and-a-half hours from Sydney, four hours from Newcastle, and close to major regional centres including Dubbo, Orange and Bathurst, the town enjoys easy access to big city requirements but is far enough away to ensure a relaxed and peaceful rural lifestyle.

The population of 25,000 is bolstered by around 500,000 visitors each year. Transport links include daily air and coach services.

Recognised as a prosperous business and tourism hub with strong health and education sectors, Mudgee is well-known for its produce and craft markets, great coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, wineries, breweries, live music, concerts and exhibitions.

The close-knit community has a variety of senior friendly arts, cultural and interest groups. Sporting activities include golf, tennis, bowls, rugby league and union, motocross and horse racing.

Nearby nature reserves, national parks and world heritage listed bushland offer cycling, canoeing, river cruises, fishing, camping and star gazing.

Prominent events range from a month-long celebration of food and wine to sculptures in the park and music and literature festivals.

The Mudgee area has a low crime rate and a diverse economic base is supported by tourism, viticulture, agriculture, mining, retail and construction. The climate of the region is warm and temperate, providing perfect conditions for alfresco dining and recreational activities.

Purpose-designed for seniors who wish to remain living independently with like-minded neighbours, the gated community offers a complete lifestyle experience with maintenance-free living, peace of mind, security, and a sense of belonging.

Maintaining the Oak Tree philosophy of boutique size retirement communities, we are proud to offer 64 thoughtfully designed villas where our residents can comfortably age-in place.

  • Quality electrical appliances are included in the full-service structure to reduce the burden of home and garden maintenance.
  • Each independently metered villa has north-facing windows to catch plenty of light and warmth. Solar panels with battery storage help residents to control energy costs into the future.

Rebecca Redfern

Meet Rebecca

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Rebecca Redfern and I am proud to be the Village Manager at Oak Tree Retirement Village Mudgee.

I am born and raised in Mudgee, I enjoy the laid back country lifestyle and love the vibrant food and wine culture that the Mudgee Region is renowned for. Having travelled and worked overseas for ten years with my husband, we made the decision to return to Australia in 2001 and then to Mudgee so we could be closer to family.

I previously worked as a legal secretary at a local law firm for a well-established Partner in Mudgee who ran a very busy practice. I had a genuine soft spot for senior clients and as a result, quickly established strong relationships and was often their on-going point of contact.

I am excited to join the Oak Tree Group as the Village Manager for their newly established Retirement Village in Mudgee. Having worked in the legal profession for over 30 years, I understand the emotional decision around selling the family home and am excited to show seniors and their families around our village and what we have to offer. I love that Oak Tree provides a sense of belonging in a community that is built on friendships with like-minded people and activities for all interests.

I am looking forward to busy times ahead and would love to welcome you to our wonderful village.
