Noreen and Clem recently made the move from their large family home in Canberra to Oak Tree Coffs Harbour, and though they’ve only been residents since November, they’ve already embraced village life wholeheartedly!

“We’re both well and truly retired, and after exploring multiple retirement villages, we knew it was time for a fresh start,” Noreen shares. “We visited eight villages north of Sydney before discovering Oak Tree, and this one just felt right.”

With family in the local area, the move to Oak Tree Coffs Harbour just made sense.

When Noreen and Clem first visited, the village was still under construction. However, after learning about the vibrant, carefree lifestyle Oak Tree could offer them, they immediately saw the vision and were sold!

“We knew it would take time for our villa to be built, but we were happy to put down our deposit and wait because we loved the concept and the sense of community,” Noreen explains.

In the meantime, they had a chance to connect with future neighbours and other members of the Oak Tree community. “We were here for a pizza night early on, and we met some lovely people,” Noreen adds. “It was nice to get to know others before officially moving in.”

Since settling into their villa, Noreen and Clem have enjoyed the peace and convenience of their new home. “Our villa is lovely,” Noreen says. “It’s airy, convenient, and the location is perfect. We’re right near the pool, which is such a nice view.”

While they’ve been adjusting to the warmer weather, they’ve quickly settled into the exciting village atmosphere. “It’s been wonderful,” Noreen shares. “The vibe of the village suits us perfectly.”

Noreen and Clem also appreciate the strong sense of community within the village. “Michelle our Village Manager is fantastic. She’s always there to help with anything,” Noreen says. “And we really enjoy the social gatherings. We’ve already been to morning teas, and we’ve helped organise an Australia Day trivia event for the community.”

Noreen and Clem highlight the wonderful residents at Oak Tree, noting the warmth and care everyone has for one another. “The people here are wonderful. It’s a lovely group,” Noreen says. “The smaller size of the village means that everyone knows each other, but we all have our own space, which makes it just right.”

They’ve also enjoyed the convenience of the village’s location, with medical facilities and shopping close by. “It’s great to have everything within five minutes,” Noreen says. “It really makes life easier.”

With a trip to Canberra and Batemans Bay lined up, Noreen and Clem are already enjoying the benefits of the community while being able to travel and spend time with family. “It’s nice to know we can lock up and leave, knowing we have a secure and comfortable base to come back to after our travels.”
