On Friday August 23rd, Oak Tree are hosting our 10th Annual Capricorn Coast Seniors Expo at Merv Anderson Park in Yeppoon, and we warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone with an informative day filled with fun and community!
Since its inception in 2014, the annual expo has celebrated and empowered local seniors to feel their best by educating them on the incredible products and services on offer in the market.
This year, the eagerly anticipated event will feature a variety of over 50 stalls to explore, ranging from care providers, finance and legal professionals, and therapists, to pet, coffee, and ice cream stalls!
Attendees can also expect demonstrations, interactive displays, amazing products and services designed to assist seniors, a range of information and goodies to collect, and excellent prizes to be won. Each person will receive free entry into the lucky door draw – just visit the Oak Tree stall on arrival to collect your ticket.

When Jenny Brown, Village Manager at Oak Tree Retirement Village Capricorn Coast, brought this annual expo to life 10 years ago, she never imagined it would grow to the remarkable magnitude it has today.
As a Village Manager, Jenny was frequently organising for local providers to visit her village and educate her residents on products and services that could assist them. She quickly realised that there was a massive opportunity to showcase these to not only her residents but the wider community also, as they had the ability to greatly improve the wellbeing and quality of life of all local seniors.
This was where Jenny’s idea for a seniors-focused expo was born, and while she began hosting them on-site at Oak Tree, they became so popular that Jenny had to relocate to Merv Anderson Park to accommodate more stallholders and attendees!
“It’s amazing how our event has grown over the years. Word has spread so far that we’ve had interest from businesses in different regions like Gladstone and Brisbane, which is an amazing opportunity!”, says Jenny.
Prior to joining Oak Tree, Jenny worked in aged care nursing and office administration, but found her true passion and purpose when she began her journey at Oak Tree in 2008 as Village Manager at Park Avenue. Since then, she has had the opportunity to manage a number of village locations, now at Oak Tree Capricorn Coast on Kookaburra Drive in Yeppoon.
“The best part about my role at Oak Tree is the relationships I’ve formed with our residents, and helping them to stay independent, happy, and comfortable in their homes throughout their retirement years.”
Jenny’s passion for empowering retirees to prioritise their wellbeing is unmatched, and initially what drove her to coordinate the first senior’s expo.
“I wanted to create a free event that encourages seniors to explore an array of different products and services in a relaxed setting where they feel comfortable.”
“There’s so much information out there that seniors aren’t aware of, and our expo helps to showcase what’s available. It’s a one stop shop!”
The expo is also an incredible way to promote and support the wonderful local businesses in the area – something that is very important to us at Oak Tree.
“I try to incorporate a variety of different exhibitors, so attendees are kept well informed each year. In the lead up to the expo, I always look for any new services or products that can assist our seniors in some way.”
“This year, we look forward to seeing not just our local seniors attending, but visitors to our region also! It’s going to be bigger and better than ever!”
Oak Tree’s 10th Annual Seniors Expo is being held on Friday August 23rd from 9am – 1:30pm at Merv Anderson Park in Yeppoon. We encourage you to come along with friends and family to what is going to be an amazing day!
