Plenty of surprises in Yeppoon
A sneaky evening of sneaky surprises is what was in store for the Yeppoon residents at the recent "Surprise Auction" held by our self acclaimed "sneaky" Village Manager, Tarnya Mayes.
In an effort to raise money for the social club's end of year Christmas Party, Tarnya busily wrapped up a variety of auction goods - "sneakily" tucking smaller items away in larger boxes in an attempt to deceive the buyer into spending more - and placing the entire table laden with goods up for blind auction.
With close to 50 people in attendance the evening kicked off with a BBQ dinner which the residents cooked, and then the bidding war began! And with some 35 items up for grabs bids were being shouted loud and clearly from all corners of the room.
Lots of laugher was shared - some taking home great value items, whilst others were not so lucky. But as the saying goes - it was all in good fun. The group raised close to $400 for the Christmas party at the end of the year. Well done everyone!
