Boronia's Travellers return
Oak Tree Boronia Heights residents Ruth and Tony recently returned from a cruise to the South Pacific Islands on board the grand luxury ship - The Sea Princess.
Departing just after Christmas the lucky couple got to spend New Year's Eve somewhere between Australia and Fiji - the party reported to be so much fun there were almost too many options to choose from.
"We had dinner and then had four different parties to choose from. We ended the night on the top deck enjoying more food, drinks and music. The countdown to 12pm was amazing and everyone enjoyed the night. It was just a pity we had an early start for The Isle of Pines and a few sore heads the following morning," said Ruth.
Amongst all the partying on board the ship, there was certainly time for some Island hopping and site seeing.
First stop was the Isle of Pines where passengers got off the ship and explored the island, filled with pine trees. Next stop was Vila where our lucky travellers did a village tour and saw the ceremonial warrior fire dance. A bit more cruising and Suva was their next destination where Ruth and Tony thoroughly enjoyed the markets but were shocked to see how seafood could be left out in the sun for hours and wondered how the locals could eat it without being sick.
"We enjoyed this trip very much. The only problem was it was so short. Hopefully the next will be a lot longer," said Ruth who is already planning their next trip away.
After all, that is what retirement should be all about - one big long holiday!
