WOW! What a great weekend in Armidale, the sun was shining and the weather was surprisingly warm for this time of year.
We officially declared the village open with help of local member Adam Marshall MP on hand for the formal cutting of the ribbon witnessed by our first residents Kerrie Reeves, Faye Cluley, Shirley Cook and members of the Oak Tree team.
More than ninety local seniors, their friends and families attended the event, to learn more about our development.
A first open day for our Village manger, Kate Pigram a long term local with deep connections within the community and it seems she knew everyone who passed through the gates. It felt more like a reunion than an open day.
It was a rush to complete the new display homes with the builders applying the final touches on Friday afternoon so we could showcase the new one, two and three bedroom homes available……but well worth the stress. The new homes were well received with sales taken and new residents keen to move in early next year.
A special thank you to the following team members who yet again forwent their weekend to assist: Mary O’Neil (Warwick Village Manager), Cath Bashforth (Lismore Village Manager), Rod Sawtell (Tamworth Village Manager), Kate Erbs (marketing team), Mark Luck (Regional Manager NSW) and to Jacquie Toakley (chief chocolate slice maker) and Ally Hawthorne (welcoming committee). Our village events are a success due to your hard work and commitment to a great cause – thank you!
As the year comes to an end this will be my final sign off as Mark Bindon will feature next week.
I take this opportunity to wish you a safe festive season and if you are spending time with your parents this Christmas it may be the right time to ask how they are coping living in their homes. A visit to one of our villages in the new year may introduce them to a new lease of life that can benefit the entire family.
All the best – Melissa Luck
