Last time I penned a few lines I spoke of hitting the ground running. Well new roller skates required – I’ve worn the old pair out! Still on the move and loving it.
I spent a fabulous couple of days in North Queensland last week, introducing our new Village Manager at OAK TREE Cairns, Jeff Nutter, to our residents there. What a baptism of fire for him! Three days later he and his residents were confronted with preparations for Cyclone ITA. Fortunately due to their diligence and ITA being less intense than originally forecast, damage was minimal. Well done Jeff and team. (I understand the after party was a hoot though!)
After changing out of the Cairns ‘board shorts’ attire, I’m now in ‘checked shirt and blue jeans’ get up having spent the last days in the beautiful Darling Downs visiting OAK TREE Toowoomba and OAK TREE Warwick Villages. A balmy 10 degrees in Warwick this morning – but magnificent crisp and clean air. We really do have great villages in fabulous locations.
Much of my travels have included the company of our nominated Quantity Surveyors, where detailed reviews of our forecast Capital and Maintenance requirements are undertaken for each of our villages. We certainly understand the importance of maintaining these assets for the benefit of our current and future residents and much work goes into this critical part of our operations.
Back to Brisbane this afternoon, and then some R & R time over Easter. Would you believe it! I’m heading to Hervey Bay! I hope the new skates make it!
Happy and Safe Easter all. Until next time.
