They say seeing is believing but when it comes to Christmas, it is a bit the opposite isn’t it? It is the believers who are the receivers. But if you ask me, this notion works all year around….not just when we are wishing and hoping for Santa to pay our Christmas tree a visit.
To see the positives in life I think we need to remain open to them and “believe” that they WILL come, regardless of how long they might take to get here, or even if the end result is not quite what we are expecting.
Christmas for me is always a time of self reflection and planning for the new year. I’m often told “next year will be your year!” or “next year will be a better year” and whilst I am encouraged by these positive statements I’m often puzzled – does that mean this year has not been my year? I don’t like to think of it that way – I know that for all of us there have been ups and downs all year long – no one’s year is ever perfect. That’s life – but hopefully the ups far out weighed the downs. Or at least, if there have been lots of downs, some good has come out of it – invariably, I like to believe good always comes if we look hard and long enough for it. There is always a little glimmer of light if we open our eyes.
My point to this little story you might be asking? It is nothing much – only that Christmas brings lots of emotions for many people, some of them good, some of them not so good. All are equally valid, important and should be recognised. But with Christmas comes a new year, and with a new year comes new hope. Just like when you were a kid and you believed in the magic of Christmas – Anything can happen! My hope, or my Christmas wish, if you will, for everyone reading is that you can keep this spirit alive and try and always look on the bright side of life for a positive 2014.
And so I come to the end of the last blog for 2013. It has been a massive year and if our plans are anything to go by, 2014 will be even bigger – possibly our biggest yet especially in terms of new villages starting. Even as I write this, two days out from Christmas, the office is a quiet hum as great minds tap away on their computers scrambling to complete work right up to the very last minute. We have stuff going on here, there and everywhere. But there is more then enough time for us to tell you about it all next year.
For now, thank your for your continued support – Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Our blogs will recommence early in the new year so stay tuned!
