Learning something new every day is an effective way to keep your brain active, and I can honestly say I have been keeping my brain active since starting at Oak Tree.
My role marketing Oak Tree is diverse. One day I am launching a new site in Tamworth, meeting the locals and serving tea and coffee as we discuss the new Oak Tree Village in Tamworth; the next I am braving a cyclone flying into Rockhampton to drive through torrential rain to set up a villa display for our Capricorn Coast Village Open Day.
In the seven weeks since joining the team, I have travelled up and down the east coast to four established villages, two new village sites and one under construction. Along the way I have met many wonderful residents and characters.
One thing I have learned during this whirlwind initiation, is that while each village is as different as the residents who reside in them, there is always the familiar feeling of a carefree and social environment, which is part of the Oak Tree ethos.
The empathy Oak Tree places on their product offering factored into my aspirations to be part of the Oak Tree team. My background is in hospitality and facilities management marketing, and while there are many similarities between the industries, Oak Tree captures the essence of lifestyle longevity. I value the way the villages have a relaxed atmosphere and residents can live independently for the long-term, a direct contrast to my experiences in the fast paced short-stay atmosphere of a 5 star hotel.
The opportunity to continue learning more about the drives and desires of our residents, while being part of the Oak Tree team is going to be an exciting way to keep my brain active.
