Oak Tree Park Avenue residents ventured to the oceans depths off the coast of Hervey Bay to pay a visit to the friendly migrating humpback whales recently.
The group of eight arranged an overnight motel stay in Hervey Bay and a day cruise to be remembered.
All excited to be out and about experiencing nature’s spectacular giants of the sea, the group patiently waited with a keen eye to be the first to spot a friendly wave from a flipper or even a misty signal from the whale’s blow holes.
"Quite secretive they were for the first part of the tour, but within time they decided to come up to the boat and say hello," said Oak Tree Village Manager Jenny Brown.
Much to the glee of the tour group, a pod of whales enjoyed swimming around, and underneath the boat, seemingly interested just as much in the tour group, as the tour group was in them.
"It was a breathtaking experience and everyone who went thoroughly enjoyed themselves and would recommend it as a must do item to put on your bucket list."
The tour included all meals and a scenic trail of the bays and Fraser Island.
The residents are now busy planning their next tour with John Dowie Tours
