Sharon with her sneaky residents
Toowoomba's Village Manager gets a surprise
"What a surprise I had," says Village Manager Sharon McManus.
Oak Tree Toowoomba residents, in cahoots with Sharon's family recently surprised Sharon with a birthday party held in the community centre for her 50th birthday.
Told by her mother and family that they were taking her out for a Sunday dinner to celebrate, they arrived firstly at the Oak Tree Village where Sharon was already growing curious.
"The family all decided we would meet here first" was Sharon's Mother's reply to kill Sharon's curiousity. But when the doors to the community centre opened - there everyone was, family, residents and all shouting "Surprise" to a very shocked Sharon.
Our sneaky Oak Tree residents did sneaky party planning behind Sharon's back to make sure her day was extra special.
"How they pulled it off without my knowledge was unreal!" said Sharon.
"They were worried about me going over to the office as I sometimes do on a Sunday, but this weekend I didn't - their secret remained safe!"
"I just wanted to say thank you to the residents of Oak Tree Toowoomba for the thoughts and organisation that went into my birthday party. It makes my position as Village Manager even more special - thank you, thank you. thank you.
