Community centre decked out in all things Australian outback!
G'day Mate - says Toowoomba
Oak Tree Toowoomba residents hosted our first ever Director's Dinner in our brand new community centre - our theme Out back Australia or Australian Icon - and did we get into the spirit of it all or what!
All residents turned up fully dressed in costumes for the fun Australian theme and were delighted to see the great efforts gone to to decorate the community centre accordingly. From tents and billy's boiling over (pretend) outdoor fires, hay bails and kangaroos, eyes lighted up straight away when people arrived and the fun began.
Amongst the mix was Dame Edna who graced our shindig, along with a garbo and who could forget Croc Dundee who showed a surprising amount of resemblance. Mixing in amongst the crowds was Oak Tree Director Mark Bindon and Regional Manager Melissa Luck, both happy to mingle amongst the residents enjoying the chatter and sharing a few laughs.
A great deal of effort was put into the catering - Village Manager Sharon together with Oak Tree Resident John (a former chef) put their great minds to work to come up with an Australiana menu - 3 courses and alternate drops at that! What a spoilt lucky bunch we are at Toowoomba!
Residents enjoyed some toe tapping tunes by Terry Arnold from the Woolshed and all in all had a fantastic time. We are already planning our next luncheon. Wander what our theme will be?
