Smiling faces at the Biggest Morning Tea
The Biggest "Biggest Morning Tea" Yet
Oak Tree Retirement Village Toowoomba joined in the fight against cancer this week hosting their biggest "Biggest Morning Tea" event yet.
After months of planning, Oak Tree welcomed 120 residents and guests who opened their generous hearts and coin purses to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
By way of entry fees, donations and raffle prizes, the Village raised in excess of $3600 - the most the village has raised in all three years that Oak Tree Toowoomba has been staging the event.
“The Biggest Morning Tea is a notable event on our annual calendars as it supports a cause very raw and real to our hearts,” said Managing Director of Oak Tree Group, Mark Bindon.
“Unfortunately the reality is everyone knows of someone who is, or was, affected by cancer; Oak Tree Toowoomba lost two of our residents to the illness this year which has saddened us all.
“We support this cause as a Group of Villages, and more importantly, as a group of people, to not only fight against cancer but to offer our support and friendship to those personally affected.
Oak Tree Toowoomba endeavours to raise the bar even higher next year and have set a target of $5000 and are already taking table reservations.
Oak Tree Villages across the Group are collecting for the cause and have raised close to $8000, and counting.
A fantastic effort to all who contributed and participated.
