Park Avenue supports ovarian cancer
The generous hearts at Oak Tree Park Avenue are at it again, this time banding together to raise money for Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.
A "Tea for Teal" event was held in the community centre on Tuesday to support ovarian cancer research at the Mater.
Upon registering we received invitations, balloons and advice on how to effectively run the fundraiser.
A small group of residents gathered together to buy raffle tickets and donate to this worthy cause - many sadly know of family or friends who have been touched by this devastating disease.
Residents enjoyed a cuppa, and a light morning tea and chatted whilst playing some interesting party games.
Some great donations were received and have been forwarded to the Mater Foundation.
1300 Australian women (mother’s ,daughters, sisters and friends) are diagnosed each year with ovarian cancer, and sadly 2 out of 3 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer will not survive. This survival rate has not improved in15 years, so it’s time for change!
Congratulations Oak Tree Park Avenue for lending a hand and making a difference.
