A Bit About Me
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tarnya Mayes and I am proud to be the Village Manager at Oak Tree Retirement Village Park Avenue.
Central Queensland has been my home of choice for 14 years. I’m a family orientated person and moved my husband and two children here to be closer to my Grandmother and my Mother. We regularly speak and see one another and, most importantly, my children have grown up knowing and respecting their grandparents.
We are spoilt by the luxury of the coast and all of its beauty in Yeppoon and by the shopping and sporting facilities in Rockhampton. Both of my children have accessed great sporting and academic opportunities in the local and wider community and I’m hopeful of great futures for the two of them in this region.
I previously worked in the nursing industry for 13 years prior to commencing with Oak Tree Retirement Villages in 2009. This experience gave me great empathy for people and I learnt the value of human interaction and the need to be heard. I carry this with me in all aspects of my life and in my job at Oak Tree.
I enjoy every facet of my job. When someone first enquires about the village, I love to be able to show them what a wonderful place Oak Tree is. I take pride in helping a person move through the process of enquiry right through to becoming a resident and welcoming them into our extended family here at Oak Tree.
We have a great team at Oak Tree and I admire and appreciate all of my work colleagues.
