Greg Ball performs at Oak Tree Burpengary
Greg and his wife Deidrie performed some wonderful golden oldie songs, told some captivating stories but without doubt the highlight of the performance was the poem "The Oak Tree" written by Greg himself.
It reads as follows:
"The Oak Tree'
In the corner of the forest a mighty Oak tree stands,
Never planted, never nutured by the crusty hand of man.
Not a single drop of water, save for arainy day,
And when storms stripped her branches
She was left to stay that way.
Lightning once struck at her heart and split her near in two,
And a wild fire burnt her oldtrunk black
But somehow she still grew.
She offers shade to all who stand to shelter from the sun,
With trembling leaves and cooling breeze
She welcomes all who'd come.
So there in Gods great garden, where grows his wondrous plan,
The Oak Tree stands a sybnol, of the strength and worth of man.
