Local Sights and Food Delights
Goonellebah residents have been making good use of their bus in recent months with some excellent outings. Recently they took advantage of the beautiful warm sunny days they are blessed with on the North Coast for a trip to Eltham Pantry.
Only a short drive from the village Eltham is a picturesque rural area of rolling hills, pecans and livestock. This lovely venue is a converted homestead and makes a wonderful café and restaurant. It is well known locally for excellent food and it certainly didn’t disappoint. After making a quick inspection of the cake display residents settled in for a delicious lunch and good company.
As the Pantry is set on a working Pecan farm the vista of lines of Pecan trees which have recently been harvested made for a lovely aspect. After having a look around it was back on the bus for a lovely drive back to the village through some of the most picturesque areas of the North Coast.
Next month’s outing will be a mystery tour after the last one to the Tweed Regional Gallery was such a huge success. Village Manager Catherine is currently working on the next destination which is sure to keep residents guessing.
