Bus trip to Colebrook
Oak Tree Retirement Village Kingston residents ventured to Colebrook on a Christmas in July themed excursion recently.
Bus driver Athol, who shared his wealth of knowledge on who lived where and the history of various buildings as residents travelled along, drove straight to the Colebrook Tavern via Richmond & Campania.
The Tavern, which is just north of the small township, laid on a wonderful smorgasbord style meal, which, judging from the number of emptied piled high plates, was met with enthusiastic approval!
There was quiet “Christmas Music” in the background which added to the atmosphere, as the Christmas Pudding, with strawberry topped meringue and cream, was served.
The route home was through Brighton, Pontville and Granton and although residents arrived home a little later than expected, there were no complaints.
"Everyone is stilll talking about the quantity and quality of the food at the Tavern….exceptional," said Village Manager Peter.
"Many thanks to Hanna for pulling it all together as we all look forward to the next one!"
