Boronia plays canasta
Sometimes a quiet session of cards to fill in an afternoon is what the doctor orders and that is exactly what Denise and her friend were doing in the Community Centre this week.
Caught in a game of high concentration the two were playing Pony - a version of Canasta - and both had high hopes of winning.
With moments of silence and complete deliberation over what hand to play to moments of victory and smug "take that" action - the two had a fun time relaxing the afternoon away.
The beauty of the community centre is it is open all day and into the night for residents to come and use at their leisure. At times it is a thriving room of activity, at other times a peaceful and cool place to get some space and say hello to a few people popping in and out on their merry way.
