Boronia celebrates Oktoberfest
Whilst we might not speak German all to well, we certainly tasted all things German this week at Oak Tree Boronia Heights as we hosted the much celebrated Oktoberfest.
Residents Dawn and Marilyn did an amazing job helping to organise the event, spending all afternoon decorating the tables with German memorabilia, not to mention the epitome of Oktoberfest - beer steins.
The troops all arrived in fine spirits for a fantastic evening of good food, fun and of course, beer sampling; Many even dressing up in traditional German clothing - Deutsch fraus.
Sitting down to dinner they enjoyed a wide array of German specialites including: - Bratwourst, Sauerkraut, Rotkohl mit apfel, klienes rot katofell, Bayerischer apfelstrudel ,Krschund apfelstrudel, followed by coffee and Schwarzwalder kuchen(Black Forest Torte) all cooked by the residents.
Residents had a merry old time leaving with full bellies and already looking forward to next year's event.
