Welcome Burpengary

Well its been some weeks since I wrote my last blog after delivering a weekly update to you over the last year or so. I decided it was time for you to hear from our people – they are what makes us who we are and I thought it would be great for you to see what makes this business actually tick and what our people do each day, as well as their individual ideas on the business and industry we are in.

I am delighted to say that I found their blogs very entertaining and it reminds me of the importance of communication both in and out of our business. At the end of the day, our Oak Tree family includes many different groups of people, including our shareholders, our staff, our residents, our building suppliers and extended families of our residents. We will continue to ensure we are communicating as well as we can and as often as we can to help the extended group understand this important service we are providing to Australian seniors.

The big news of the week is that we have acquired a partly developed village at Burpengary in Brisbane’s north. This transaction has been brewing for some time but of course we have been unable to discuss it for a range of reasons but most importantly to not confuse the residents in the village. It has been a challenging time for them and we needed to be sure the transaction was going to occur before publically announcing it.

The first time I visited the Burpengary village I was immediately impressed. It felt like an Oak Tree Village and it seemed all it needed was our badge on the front gate. We had a positive feeling about the staff and residents and were very keen to bring the village into the Oak Tree family. Now it’s a reality and will be known as Oak Tree Retirement Village Burpengary.

Now that it has happened we will waste no time in completing works to the Community Centre and will shortly commence works on new villas in Stages 4 & 5. We can’t wait to meet the residents and add the Oak Tree flavour.

There is so much happening at the moment in Oak Tree’s world that I would need to blog every day to bring you up to speed! But….I need to leave something for my colleagues to discuss!

I’m off to Kingston this week after being in Townsville, Yeppoon, Warwick and Toowoomba in the week just gone.  Busy times!

See you next week.

Warm Regards
Mark
