Big Melbourne Cup Fun at Boronia
It's the race that stops the Nation, but in their own fun way, Oak Tree Boronia Heights residents held their own form of races on Melbourne Cup Day.
Oak Tree resident Dorothy organised a day of fun and activity for her fellow resident friends consisting of a delicious lunch and a comical horse race using modified pool noodles as their trusty, saddled thoroughbreds.
Hoisting a leg over their noodle horses, hats, heels, high fashions and all, residents had to "race" to the finish line by answering trivia questions. It was neck and neck for a short time but just beating the rest to the finish line was Ruth who proudly took the trophy home with a big smile on her face.
Of course it wouldn't be a proper race day without a few sweeps and some cheering and shouting as the real race began. Not to mention the obligatory fashion parade - the women sporting some beautiful looks and turning some heads in all things floral and colourful for this wonderful spring carnival event.
A great time was had by all.
